Freebie: Halloween Tricky Teens Number Puzzle Sequence

My kindergarteners have been working on learning all about those tricky teens.  So as one of their math tub stations I wanted them to get the extra practice and putting them in order.  I could have just used simple number cards, but hey, Halloween is just around the corner and I wanted them to have fun sequencing tricky teens.

I was just going to make Halloween themed flashcards for them to use.  That would make it hard for them to self check their work.  Then I thought, I'll created a Halloween tricky teens number puzzle sequence.  Not only does it give them practice with ordering tricky teens, but they can self check by creating an image! And you can grab it for free.  Just click on the image to grab it!

Happy Halloween!!

Dr. Suess Fun

The past two weeks have been super crazy around here.  My class has been busy with assessments and having some Dr. Suess fun during our center time.

We are making some Thing 1 and Thing 2 people in our Art center.  Rolling and building a cat in the hat dice game at our math center.  I just simple took some clip art and cut it apart for the pieces.  In the writing center my kids have been busy with the Seuss Sight Word Sort and practicing beginning sounds with Seuss Spin -A- Sound from www.livelovelaughkindergarten.blogspot.com

Check out the pictures below of each of the centers.  I've also included the crate that holds each of the center task for them to complete.

A Little Valentine Fun

With Valentine's Day just around corner I've planned some fun center task for my class. Click on any of the pictures to check them out! Have a great week and Happy Valentines Day.

Writing Center Task will get them moving from the table as they locate the eight hearts each with a different bossy r picture and complete the word on their recording sheet.

Math Center Task is fun Be My Valentine Money activity from teachingfirst-abc.blogspot.com.  It goes along great with our penny counting practice.

Art Center Task is activity that was given to me by one of my coworkers.  Not sure where she got it from and I meant to take a picture of a finished one I made years ago to share. If you recognize where it comes from please let me know.

Phonics Center Task this week is a little Robot Love to help my little ones practice the bossy r rule.  They will practice reading the word on a robot head and then match it to the body that has the matching picture.

My centers for the week

Lots of free center ideas for the upcoming week!  Check them out!

Writing Center: I've been working a ton on teaching my kindergartners how to write lowercase letters.  We use the Handwriting Without Tears program and we are nearing the end of letter formation instruction so I've been having them review and practice how to write the letters.  I've found that using the letter boxes helps them with tall, short and descending lowercase letters.  SO this week I'm having them practice handwriting by labeling a snowman to go with our winter theme.  Click on the picture to download a free copy!

Phonics Center: this week I'm using a fun freebie from The Weekly Hive to help my students with blending sounds and reading words.  Click on the image get it.

My Math Center is from Kelly Kindergarten - Symmetrical Snowflake sorting.  Click on the picture to grab your copy.

Art Center: We have been studying bears and in combination with winter so I wanted to create a cute bulletin board.  I saw the idea one time in a Mailbox magazine.  The title of it is called Bearing the Cold.  I've scanned in the bear template that I use along with a copy of the clothing pieces that can be used.  I printed the clothing on heavy cardstock and cut them out as tracers.  Then I set out a ton of colored paper and let the kids create a winter outfit for their bear.  The bear is printed on brown construction paper.  Click on the bear to get a copy.

Centers For the Week-Holiday Theme

Art Center:  Window Ornament activity.  While browsing on Pinterest I found this fun activity from 1-2-3 Learn Curriculum

You can get an ornament template HERE.  I used contact paper for the color paper pieces to stick to.  When they finish making them I plan to laminate them.

Math Center: Number ordering with Christmas Lights.  I printed off four houses and the Christmas lights and laminated them.  Students will place the lights along the roof to put numbers 10-20 in order.
Writing Center: Writing CVC Words.  Each reindeer card has been laminated and using wipe off crayons or markers my students will be practicing sounding out cvc words and writing them down on the cards.  Once I check them they will take a paper towel and wipe them clean for the next group to use.
Phonics Center: Ho-Ho Ending  Sounds by Deanna Jump.  This will be great for my kids to use.  We have been practicing listening for ending sounds in our K Phonics program.

Centers for the upcoming week.

Art Center:  Angel ornament.  A friend of mine has been using this fun angel art in her classroom for years.  She can't remember where it came from.  If you've seen it before and know, please let me know. It can also be used with math or as a holiday project.  Get the template for free right HERE!

Phonics Center: Hearing Ending Sounds ( Write the room)  This goes great with our K phonics program by Fountas & Pinnell.

Math Center: We will be ending our study of the Gingerbread man books this week and this will be a fun math game for my little ones to play.

Writing Center: Sentence picture match.  My students have to read the pattern sentences and find the picture that matches.  It has a cute Christmas tree theme.
